#086: Drug Legalization 3

There's a small subset of leftists who oppose drug legalization because they fear legalized marijuana would be exploited by big corporations in order to make bigger profits. (Because making money selling something perfectly legal is totes evil!)

Two problems there: first, most corporations—especially big tobacco, pharma, and alcohol—are lobbying against drug legalization because they fear legalized marijuana would prove to be steep competition for them. (Big business lobbying big government to protect them from competition? Go figure!)

And second, there's already a group of people who are exploiting marijuana and other narcotics in order to make big profits without taxation or regulation. They're called drug dealers and cartels! And funnily enough, those people tend to disappear with drug legalization. (Illegal activity stops when something becomes legal? Again, go figure!)
